NYC, so beautiful

De Boston 2010

Some may say, NYC is tooo... busy, or, dirty, or whatever, but if you liked Marseille, and Paris, if you feel like Lyon's "la tête d'or" is not too bad, then you may love NY.
I met Melchior in NY, for some great quality time !
Kishore Gave me a ride to NY, he had to pick up someone. That was very nice of him ! They dropped me in the center of manhattan, and thanks to a Starbucks (which we know very well in the family), I could call Melchior with skype, and we set up a rendez-vous in the south of manhattan, from where we could see the Statue of liberty. This is almost not possible to go to the island and visit it as tourists book it months ahead !
We walk along the west riverside, facing New Jersey ( for HIMYM fans ). There are some very nice harbors, with HUGE, I mean REALLY HUGE boats. We could see the very impressive former emplacement of the twin towers. Melchior is actually working in a company that verifies cranes for the city of New York, and guess what : they verified the very ones for building the replacement of the twin towers.
We kept on going through nice neighborhood, missed the end of Tribeca film festival, and arrived beside an old railroad.
Th only remarkable thing around (beside the huge buildings) seemed to be the tower shaped golf practice, facing the river... But that was before taking the stairs and arriving in a very nice park : he railroad has been reconverted into a beautiful elevated park ! We walked a while and as it was already diner time, we walked more to the river.
We had what seemed to be a $2 plan (french idiomatic expression), but proved to be great : we went to a quay, where the only distinctive sign was the guards controlling ids. Once on the quay, we faced three old boats, full with partying people, live music and fat burgers. We had some beers, and enjoyed the great ambiance, and the sight of NY city.
We came back to Melchior's place in the evening, and I was able to sleep in a huge bed... and tried my best to release the pain in my foot. He is living in Long Island, and if the neighborhood is not pretty, the fact that the beach is 2 minutes from his place and 10 from his work, and that people surf there, makes it a very interesting spot !

On Sunday, we went through central park, which is amazingly wide, and surprisingly natural. A real pleasure! there you may find some huge rocks, here is a little bridge, further this way, a baseball court... We had no much time the before I would have to take the chinese bus to Boston, so Melchior showed me some surprising and impressive buildings of NY.
I came back, more than exhausted, to Boston, and since then, I guess I have been working hard all the time... ALL THE TIME !
